Every time most people think of posture they think of the upright, straight position or carriage of the body, however there’s another posture that’s connected to your business.

Business posture is simply a mind set or air of confidence that shows you don’t need just any person. When you have this confidence and business posture, you will attract more people to you. They will take you serious. Generally speaking, people want what they can’t have. You must be prepared to walk away from the deal if you do not feel like the person would be a good fit for your business. If you have the right business attitude and posture, the person with whom you are sitting down and offering the opportunity to should understand and know that you will be successful whether or not they join your business opportunity. There have been many times that I have walked away from a prospective business partner (not in a mean way) whom I did not feel was serious about the opportunity or overly skeptical and untrusting. Would you want to be in a business with someone who didn’t even trust you or seemed as though they were just looking for a get rich quick scheme? You shouldn’t. They will only waste your time and leave you frustrated.

As we just learned, there are individuals who just naturally possess a excellent speaking posture, and the rest of us really need to work at it. The very first crucial characteristic of posture is confidence. Of course nothing says success like having confidence.

When you are new to the industry, it’s really crucial to borrow confidence from your upline(s) until you develop your own. Another way of building confidence would be to develop it yourself.

Here are 3 ways of developing confidence:

1) Knowledge Base

You should develop extended understanding of each of these:
1. Product – You need to be a product of the product. Your belief along with your posture will skyrocket if you are a true testimony of your own product.

2. Compensation Plan – The majority of folks come into Network marketing to generate income. Consequently if you can’t show people how to make money, your confidence won’t be believable to you or your prospect. Learn your Pay Plan.

3. Success Stories In Your Company – Get to know the successes of others in your company. That way you’re able to relate their successes to your qualified prospects. For instance, if Mike is a 6-figure earner within your company and he was previously working in construction, then it’s very easy for your prospective distributor
to identify with someone who is having success who comes from a blue collar background.

2) Work on Yourself

You can give your posture a huge boost by hanging around successful people. Success breeds success. Do you want to hang around the whiners who aren’t making any money or would you like to hang around individuals who are recruiting distributors weekly and creating wealth. It’s really a no-brainer. Go where the winners are. Where are the winners? Company specific events, chamber of commerce mixers and going to functions and associating with success-orientated people.

Working on yourself also includes reading success-oriented books such as Think & Grow Rich and Rich Dad, Poor Dad to mention a couple and listening to success-oriented audios from people such as Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins and Robert Kiyosaki. Fill your mind with successful thoughts so they become successful actions.

3) Play to Positive Words

When speaking with your prospects and your downline, your utilization of words is key. When you are confident, you’ll tend to talk more confidently and use words and verbiage that make people respond.

Why will they respond? Because people usually tend to respond positively to people who have authority and confidence and to individuals they perceive to have it.

Here are a few words and phrases to use: I Will, I can, I’ll do this, Definitely
Here are a few words and phrases to avoid: I think, I’ll try, Probably, I can’t, maybe

It is in your self-talk that you want to be certain that you’re using positive words. When you speak positively to yourself, you will build up your confidence in your mind which will translate to your actions and your posture. Not surprisingly success and defeat is born in the mind.

I can’t over emphasize enough that if you are new in business or even thinking about going into business for yourself, please don’t sell your opportunity. Instead, offer it with enthusiasm and the right people will see the opportunity for what it is worth and want to partner up with  you!
